Today was one of those days where it seems lost before it begins.
Everything felt like a grind. Work aversion was strong. Things seemed hopeless and I was grabbing at multiple streams of distraction to mask the work I would need to do in order to salvage the day. I was in that kind of rut where you know the answer is to persevere but I felt that desire to give in to it and call it a day before noon even struck.
The label was almost stamped. “Try again tomorrow” I wanted to tell myself but I knew that was a bullshit excuse. Something inside me knew where that thinking would take me. I didn’t want to go there. I’ve been lucky to have people in my life that give so much of themselves. They remind me that I need to give more of myself. I saved my day by following their lead.
First person I was going to give to was myself. No more complaining about having to sit and work today. I have plenty of space to move so move I did in our quaint little kitchen. Moving through tension and relaxation I was able to remind myself of why every moment is special. I then hopped back onto my computer and shared something I knew with someone who was seeking. I felt fulfilled. I could continue with the day. All seemed lost but these simple acts were all it took.
Please remember to love yourself and don’t forget that you are a small action away from moving towards or away from what you’re meant to be. It can seem impossible at times but I believe the best way to get started is by giving to others. It continues to work for me and we are all blessed to live in a time where we can almost instantaneously make someones day better through the power of the internet. There are always people seeking answers to their challenges that we have the experience and knowledge to provide answers to.
We can help someone in need today and we don’t even have to leave our homes. We can do it from the power of the computers in our pockets. You never know who you might help today 🙂
